Job Description
The Quantitative Research Group at Morningstar creates independent investment research and data-driven analytics. Our research covers a wide range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, structured credit, and funds. As a DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate with Quant Researchers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Data Engineers to support all Cloud & DevOps initiatives.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
- Provision, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and AWS ECS/EKS.
- Implement security best practices and compliance standards across development and deployment processes.
- Work closely with software developers and QA analysts to ensure seamless product delivery.
- Write scripts in languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell to automate routine tasks and deployments.
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and performance issues.
- Design and manage disaster recovery plans to ensure system resilience.
- Use version control systems like Git to manage code changes.
- Document DevOps processes and create reports on infrastructure performance.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in Cloud, DevOps, and related fields.
Qualifications
- BS degree in engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix administration, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), AWS cloud services, and DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Terraform).
- Knowledge of various stages of software development and deployment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other departments.
- Intellectual curiosity for quantitative research.
- Fluent in both oral and written English.
