Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer at IBM, you will use data to discover interesting stories and patterns. You’ll help gather, store, and process data in both batch and real-time. You’ll work closely with different teams to choose the right data management systems and identify important data for analysis. As a Data Engineer, you’ll solve problems related to database integration and manage complex, unstructured data sets.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Building and testing predictive models, creating and maintaining statistical models with a focus on big data, and using different statistical and machine learning techniques
- Designing and implementing enterprise search applications like Elasticsearch and Splunk to meet client needs
- Working in an Agile, collaborative environment, teaming up with other scientists, engineers, consultants, and database administrators to apply analytical rigor and statistical methods to predict behaviors
- Developing programs to clean and integrate data efficiently, creating predictive or prescriptive models, and evaluating the results
Your main tasks include:
- Developing and maintaining data pipelines for batch and stream processing using Informatica PowerCenter or cloud ETL/ELT tools
- Working with business teams and technical leads to gather requirements, identify data sources, fix data quality issues, design data structures, develop pipelines, and perform unit testing and support UAT
- Collaborating with the data science and business analytics teams to assist with data ingestion and other technical data-related issues
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Expertise in Data Warehousing, Information Management, Data Integration, and Business Intelligence using ETL tool Informatica PowerCenter
- Knowledge of Cloud, Power BI, and Data Migration on Cloud skills
- Experience in Unix shell scripting and Python
- Experience with relational SQL, Big Data, etc.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Knowledge of MS-Azure Cloud
- Experience in Informatica PowerCenter
- Experience in Unix shell scripting and Python
